thank you, canada.
for providing me one of the greatest nights of my life.
watching the olympics end was oh so sad.
vancouver was filled with so much joy, passion, love and good vibes.
i wish i could wake up every day knowing my life was going to be like this:

NOT MY BETTY!!!!
I had to wait a couple days to blog about this because at first it was too fresh and too painful.

I like a lot of TV shows. This is true.
Ugly Betty is different I don't just like it. I understand it.
I have felt for a long time that the writers of Ugly Betty know me.
And write just for me.
During my weekly meetings with Betty, Mark, Daniel, Willamina and the gang I find myself in pure bliss.
I laugh deeply.
And cry even more deeply.
It is sad to see it go.
It is like letting go of a little piece of my soul.
Dramatic? Sure. But, true. (see... that is one thing Betty and I have in common.)

an effort to make up for years and years of neglectful and forgetful behavior....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID BURKE!!!!
These are the raw facts about David:
I met him approximately 7 years ago.
Unfortunately I was afraid of him for the first 3 years.
Somewhere in the middle of that time we once acted like we should hang out
... but we never did.
By some miracle he ended up coming to a "bon fire" that Lily and I hosted.
The details after that are blurry.
We started hanging out more.
Lengthy phone calls and conversations ensued.
A quick and perfect friendship had begun.
A friendship full of deep and not so deep talks and funny jokes.
Long walks and rollerblading...
Tandem bike rides in matching clothes
(ok that never happened... but I wish).
I trust David more than I trust most people.
I love his opinions and thought patterns.
I could listen to him talk and theorize all day long.
He is smart, clever and creative.
I love creating things with him.
Everything he touches turns to gold.
Seriously, he is great at everything he does.
I love being his friend, and I value him so much
...even if I don't read all of his book recommendations.
David, you are one of my dearest friends and I hope you have a great birthday!!
and, for your gift this year (and the only birthday gift I have ever given you):
I commit to read THAT book by my birthday. i'm kind of hoping this is so small you can't read it.

signs that homeless people may be living in your backyard.
1. trash items go missing
2. new trash items start appearing
3. strange people are lingering in front of the house
4. two men are caught leaving the backyard during the night
5. the bushes start making noises
6. after investigation you find this:

confirmed--yes, there has been someone living in our backyard. creepy.

I found a Halloween book at DI yesterday
It had this poem in it. And it chilled me to the bone.
THE HAUNTED HOUSE
-victoria crume
Not a window was broken.
And the paint wasn't peeling,
Not a porch step sagged--
Yet, there was a feeling
That beyond the door
And into the hall
This was the house of
No one at all.
No one who breathed
Nor laughed, nor ate
Nor said "I Love,"
Nor said "I Hate."
Yet something walked
Along the stair
Something that was
And wasn't there.
And that is why weeds
On the path grow high,
And even the moon
Races fearfully by--
For something walks
Along the stairs--
Something that is
And isn't there.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

tis the season.
Halloween is upon us and there is much fun in the making.
I think it is a little ridiculous that I am always trying to top "last years Halloween." I have had so many great parties and costumes and topping the previous year is getting tricky.
That is all. (and this is fall)

Things that might make this year more awesome:
- thousands of witches
- Luke Wren possibly coming to visit
- helping my niece with her costume
- a party that is bigger and better than last years
- Lily AND Emme at the party
- Pre-Halloween Martha Stewart like dinner gathering
- 4 or more costumes!!
That is all. (and this is fall)

GIRLS CAMP
I am going.
I am anxious.
I am going to wear my hair in braids.
I am wondering how I ever got old enough to be going as a leader.
I am missing the finale of SYTYCD.
I am already exhausted just thinking about the week.
I am hoping it will be a positive experience.

just an opinion
I just have to say it: I am SO pleased with the top 4 dancers on SYTYCD.
I feel like we really got this one right America.
However, if Evan wins the whole thing I am going to be really angry!

don't give up
Bet you thought that because I haven't blogged in a while I stopped watching tv...
NOT TRUE.
This season of SYTYCD is truly blowing my mind. I have chosen Kayla as my favorite. She is incredible, has perfect lines, and any girl would kill to have her legs. I just can't quite understand why she keeps landing in the bottom 3.
On a different note: I recently finished all 4 seasons of How I Met Your Mother.

morning rant
Dear Neighbors,
I get that you are doing work on your house or yard or something, but must the pounding start at 6:30 in the morning?
K.F.
p.s. I feel like our night parties are not half as annoying as all of this morning noise.

i feel so good right now
this was just brought to my attention.
it might not mean anything. but somehow it is extremely satisfying.
i feel some sort of redemption. as if somehow this proves that america isn't as stupid as i thought, and my opinion was always right.
---oh, and thanks for the info david. this really changed everything for me.

how come i didn't know about this before?
I just heard about something that could be my perfect compromise...
The Garden Hedgehog
This incorporates 2 things I want: 1) a garden 2) a hedgehog.
Apparently, hedgehogs are good for gardens, I would just need to build a garden with a barrier, and a little home for my hedgie. And then I could happily have a hedgehog without it causing any issues for my roommates.
I feel so hopeful right now.
