NOT MY BETTY!!!!

I had to wait a couple days to blog about this because at first it was too fresh and too painful.

I like a lot of TV shows. This is true.
Ugly Betty is different I don't just like it. I understand it.
I have felt for a long time that the writers of Ugly Betty know me.
And write just for me.
During my weekly meetings with Betty, Mark, Daniel, Willamina and the gang I find myself in pure bliss.
I laugh deeply.
And cry even more deeply.

It is sad to see it go.
It is like letting go of a little piece of my soul.
Dramatic? Sure. But, true. (see... that is one thing Betty and I have in common.)

an effort to make up for years and years of neglectful and forgetful behavior....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID BURKE!!!!

These are the raw facts about David:
I met him approximately 7 years ago.
Unfortunately I was afraid of him for the first 3 years.
Somewhere in the middle of that time we once acted like we should hang out
... but we never did.
By some miracle he ended up coming to a "bon fire" that Lily and I hosted.
The details after that are blurry.

We started hanging out more.
Lengthy phone calls and conversations ensued.
A quick and perfect friendship had begun.
A friendship full of deep and not so deep talks and funny jokes.
Long walks and rollerblading...
Tandem bike rides in matching clothes
(ok that never happened... but I wish).

I trust David more than I trust most people.
I love his opinions and thought patterns.
I could listen to him talk and theorize all day long.
He is smart, clever and creative.
I love creating things with him.
Everything he touches turns to gold.
Seriously, he is great at everything he does.

I love being his friend, and I value him so much
...even if I don't read all of his book recommendations.

David, you are one of my dearest friends and I hope you have a great birthday!!

and, for your gift this year (and the only birthday gift I have ever given you):
I commit to read THAT book by my birthday. i'm kind of hoping this is so small you can't read it.
